Worth It All

The best thing we can do about this PUNK satan is wake up every morning, declare that Christ is holy, promise to follow His footsteps, and tell satan our joy and our purpose is not his to steal! Something God pointed out to me yesterday in my quiet time is that removing a lie is great. Not believing a lie is great. Satan can tell me all day that Montgomery is boring, all my friends are in Auburn, Montgomery isn’t helping me grow as a college student, and I’m missing out on college life and friends and fun. He can tell me that all day and I can choose all day not to believe it. It’s great but until I choose the truth to replace it with and to believe, that lie will continue to always come back. Satan will always be able to use his lies against us until we believe God’s truths instead.
Take satan’s lie write it down and then write down all of God’s truths that make satan’s lie impossible to believe. Then, scratch out satan’s lie as hard as you can and put God’s truth where you can see them every day!! “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me– practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9
Believe today that if you are in God’s will for your life and you are following Him with your whole heart, you are exactly where you are supposed to be. There is not a single thing happening to you that God is not in control of and “His plans are to prosper you not to harm you.” (Jeremiah 29:11) Following Christ is the best decision you will ever make. Surrendering everything to Him is the best decision you will ever make. Leaving Auburn for God and the ministry He had planned for me here was not easy, it still isn’t easy. I would be lying if I tell you it isn’t a struggle every single day. I see blessings every day but I see my friends having fun and making memories every single day too. It is still sometimes hard to be away from my friends. But it is worth it all. Following Christ will always come with a sacrifice. Not just to ask Him into your heart but throughout your entire walk with Him. Love is sacrifice. It might not be moving home, leaving your friends, and living every day completely out of your comfort zone. It might be something simple or it might be something big. You might not think you’ll be able to handle it but Jesus Christ sacrificed His life, His perfect, sinless life so that you could have eternity with Him. The worst thing that could happen to you is that you lose your life and you go to Heaven and how is that bad? It’s not.
Today at church the sermon was on running the race (Hebrews 12:1-2.) He talked about how some marathon runners train with weights but you can’t run the race with weights. It is the same for the race that is laid before us. We must “lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely” to “run with endurance the race that is set before us.” Your sacrifice might not even be sin. My most recent sacrifice was not giving up sin; it was simply giving up the life I knew and loved for a different life for Him. Whatever your sacrifice might be, it will always be laying aside every weight and sin which clings so closely to run the race. Every day sin will stare you in the eye. You choose. If you are suffering because of sin, it is your choice. And we are imperfect, we get off the path and again we have to lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely. It’s an every day battle, it’s an every day sacrifice. Wake up in the morning and make satan fear because you’re awake! Throw off all that entangles you, repent from your sin, sacrifice your worldly life for eternal life! You’ll never be the same and you’ll never regret it!
