Worth It
“It’s all scary, and as parents we want to bulletproof our kids. We want to prepare them for every situation, which is impossible, of course. There’s no magic armor to carry through the jungle, but we can arm our children with truth. We can assure them they don’t have to compromise their integrity and future to find the love, acceptance, and security they’re searching for. For girls, that’s what it’s all about. Even when they act in shocking ways, it’s because of some deeply held desire.” – See more at: http://www.karikampakis.com/2013/07/10-truths-young-girls-should-know/#.U8fwoWK9LCQ
I’m not a parent but I am a protector. I don’t want anyone to be hurt. I don’t want anyone to feel the hurt that I have felt, to experience the things I have experienced. Especially my girls. Maybe that’s why I landed myself in middle school ministry. That’s where it all started for me. That’s where it all hurt for me. Those things that hurt me in middle school, still torture me today. satan still uses them today. satan uses people’s innocent comments as daggers to my heart. That’s what satan does. He comes to kill, steal, and destroy! He doesn’t want our happiness, he wants our misery.
So I’ve been through all of that and I don’t want anyone to go through it. I would do anything to protect my girls from that. My friends from any of it. But we can’t. We will all go through it, but when we go through it, knowing our integrity and our love and acceptance and security isn’t in that, isn’t in the world, in the friends, in the human love- it won’t hurt so much. It won’t mean so much.
Deep down inside every root of an issue, every root of drama goes back to someone wanting the love, acceptance, and security we have all searched for our entire lives. I had a girl text me today and say “I feel like something is missing and I don’t know what.” Do you ever feel like you’ve searched and searched for that love, acceptance, and security and maybe you’ve even found it but there’s still something not right?
Jesus Christ is the only one who can give us the love, acceptance and security we need. Our hearts are made for Him. All this other stuff, it’s not bad, but it’s extra. Without the cake, the icing is just in a jar. Without the tea, the sugar is just in a bag. It’s good without it but is it really all it could be? Yeah maybe we can get by in life without the cake and without the tea, but don’t you want to be all you’ve made for? Don’t you want to be more and don’t you want to last?
We are made for more and that’s to be filled, satisfied, loved and accepted by Christ! All of those other people, they’re just icing to the cake and sugar to the tea! They make life sweeter but they don’t make life worth it!
