The Grave or Eternity?

“Whatever your hands find to do, do with all your strength, because there is no work, planning, knowledge, or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.” Ecclesiastes‬ ‭9:10‬ ‭

The Hebrew word used in this verse for Sheol translates to grave. We are all headed to the grave. This is inevitable. But as Christ followers, we also have access to walk towards eternity. Our every day lives do not have to be in chasing the wind. We can step towards eternity in the Power and Authority of the Holy Spirit.

There is a lot going on right now. A lot of change. A lot of uncertainty. A change in schedules. So in this change. In this season. And beyond here...

Will we focus on our flesh or on Christ? Will we spend our time, talents and treasures on the pleasures of our flesh or do we invest in eternal worth? Are we walking towards the grave where nothing will be taken with us or are we setting our minds on the eternal? What we gain on earth will stay on earth, rotting away. Wealth, success, fame, possessions. What we invest in for eternity stores eternal treasure and gains glory for our Heavenly Father. Salvation, ministry, missions, discipleship, scripture, relationships, endurance, strength, His fruit. His Glory. This lasts forever.

Where is your focus? The grave or Eternity? We are headed to both. One dies. One saves. One ends. One lives.

“Lord, You are my Portion and my Cup of Blessing; You hold my future. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. I will bless the Lord Who counsels me — even at night when my thoughts trouble me. I always let the Lord guide me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my whole being rejoices; my body also rests securely. For You will not abandon me to Sheol; You will not allow Your faithful one to see decay. You reveal the path of life to me; in Your Presence is abundant joy; at Your Right Hand are eternal pleasures.” Psalm 16:5-11‬
