More Than Conquerors
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:31, 37-39
What if instead of being overwhelmed and conquered, we overwhelming conquer through Him who loved us?
Conquer- successfully overcome, climb (a mountain) successfully.
Things that tries to conquer me, on my own-
Losing people I love
Perfectionism
People pleasing
Insecurity
Life
Whatever conquers us, with Christ He can be our true conqueror.
Know that He is first. He has to be first.
The first thought. The first word we speak. The first power we go to. In the morning. In the storm. In the sunshine. In the pain. In the night, the dark and the joy. He has to be our strength. He has to be our power. He has to be our conqueror.
Though in moments I’ve been defeated, sometimes even days and weeks, I’ve never been conquered. I’ve always walked out of every defeat better. Because in Christ, I am more than a conqueror. I am a daughter of the One True King. And if you have Christ in your life, you are a daughter or son also.
If we allow ourselves to be conquered, we allow what conquers us to be our life. That’s why we must have Christ, He must be the conqueror through us.
Let our 2016 resolution be to conquer what conquers us.
Let Christ conquer what conquers us through us.
We cannot do it all and truly without Christ, we can’t do any of it. Jesus conquers our past, present and future. He allows us to move on from our past, through our present, and on to our future. And Christ makes our futures better, no matter where our past and present are.
“We need Jesus and we need each other.” – Jay Wolf, Pastor at First Baptist Montgomery
Allow Jesus to turn your struggles into strength. Through Him, we are more than conquerors and because of Him we can have lives full strength through Him and the strength He is in others. And we can be the strength others need because of He who is in us. You do not have to be strong all the time when Christ is in you, because He is the strength in you. Never forget the strength that is in you is greater than He who is in the world.
“You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4
We can’t do this on our own, but Christ can! Rely on Him and trust Him
