Because she competes with no one, no one can compete with her.

“We ALL lose when we compete. Life is not a competition.. it is a community. Connected women magnify one another’s strength and minimize one another’s weaknesses! Be the you God created you to be..we need you!” – Lisa Bevere

If you know me at all you probably know two things:

  1. I’m a rule follower to the core. I don’t break rules. And if I am ever pushing it, I am checking behind my shoulders a million times to see if I’m going to get caught.

  2. I am competitive. Almost every thing could be turned into a competition to me. Especially when someone is breaking the rules or the event becomes unfair.

So obviously, most of us are aware that life is unfair and the people around us break the rules all the time. My probably #1 pet peeve is someone advancing, achieving, attaining something unfairly or in a way that I can’t do by following the rules and/or being respectful. So this “competitive nature” flows over into my everyday life, not just sports, quite often. In relationships, in jobs, in status, in all worldly things, and really sometimes in spiritual things.

So this quote I read this morning hit me hard. “Because she competes with no one, no one can compete with her.” I automatically wanted to be that she. I don’t want to compete with anyone. I only want to compete with the person I was yesterday. I only want to be better than who I was yesterday. And I only want to strive to be like Christ. Nobody else.

And then I realized when I’m COMPLETE in Christ.. I’m not competing. When a follower of Jesus sees their completion in Christ, they do not seek the competition with the world. Put the L.. the love, the light, the life of Christ.. into your competition and we have completion. With completion, you don’t need competition.

“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6

He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.. there is no reason to compete. Be you. Be the good work God is carrying out in you.
